About Me

I come from humble beginnings. I remember many mornings waking up at 4 am to milk the cows on a dairy farm with my family. Walking far far out into the field and seeing the stars and the glowing coy dog eyes. We did homeschooling (or not really any schooling) during the morning. Biking, road cycling, and then playing with HTML and JavaScript on our Compaq Presario before I could even understand that x = 10 created a variable.

Things moved fast. We sold the farm, and my whole family went to college. I started out in nursing school and worked as an RN, which was a great experience. I remember being blown away when I learned about the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and the enzymes that made it all work. I still wanted to learn and do more, so I started down the path to med school through biochemistry. Then I went to med school. And because I loved physiology so much, I became an intensivist after completing a combined emergency medicine, internal medicine, and critical care program.

Throughout my younger years and training, I loved gaming and computers. I remember learning Python on Coursera just so I could simulate some neat interactions in an MMO I played. Then it happened to be quite convenient that I could use Python to analyze my wet lab mass spectrometry data and cross-reference large online protein databases. Learning and tinkering with computers has basically always been my hobby. Now I’m fortunate enough to have a job that demands interacting with, synthesizing, and acting on data. In my free time, I still get to learn more and more about software, hardware, data, LLMs, development workflows, cloud infrastructure, etc.

I first made this blog before LLMs were a thing. I figured something out that literally didn’t exist on the internet, and I needed to post it somewhere. Stack Overflow seemed like a waste, and so, ta-da, the site was born. Now I kind of drop some posts here whenever inspiration strikes.
